EVENTS
The
Vendée, part of the
Pays de la Loire, is not only suitable
to enjoy naturism at our campsite
Le Colombier, but you can also
make a choice out of the many events. In our reception you will find a large
number of leaflets and brochures on the various events as well as
information for day trips.
Some
examples:
Every
summer exhibitions are organised in Vouvant,
a little middle-age village, where you can meet the artists or observe them
while they are painting. Vouvant is
also known for a marked-out walking tour following the legend of
La Fée Mélusine. This tour guides you
through the historical centre of Vouvant.
Another possibility to visit exhibitions is offered at
St. Juire-Champgillon - a “ville
fleurie” at about 7 km’s from Le Colombier
– these exhibitions are known as “Un Art
d’Eté”. During the high season you
can visit every Sunday a small local market
“Marché du Terroir”, where you
find some products of the area.
Fontenay-le-Comte
organises street-parties, theatre, concerts and parades. You will find the
actual programmes in our reception.
Chantonnay
is well known for its cycling events, its 4 days walking tour and the “jeu
de boules” tournements. In 2008 the quatre jours
en Chantonnay will take place on May 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Every
summer Ste Hermine organises around
the premises of the Chateau de Ste Hermine
a big Festival with as theme the Napoleonic period.
If you
love to visit old markets you should reserve some time to go to
l’Hermenault on the 1st
Sunday of September and enjoy the “Foire à
l’Ancienne”. Here you’ll find a large-scale of old fashioned
breeds of chickens, ducks, etc. Of course you can try many specific dishes
and drinks. The Foire à l’Ancienne in
l’Hermenault has the reputation to be
one of the most interesting “old” markets in the area.
On the
last Sunday of October La Callière is
the scene for the Foire aux Marrons.
Of course all the dishes and other specialities that you will find on this
market have a connection with chestnuts. On the market a machine to grill
your chestnuts and even your peanuts on command is to be found. For the
children there are several attractions. This market is also known for its
“second hand” ware.
